Obituary of Edward Imro Dolny

Edward Imro Dolny, 97, of Milford, CT, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025.

Edward is survived by his son, David Dolny, of Milford. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia P. Dolny, in 2021, his son, Curtis Dolny, in 2024, his brother, Harold Dolny Sr., his sisters, Anna Charney and Esther Grosner, as well as his mother, Mary Sakala Dolny, and his father, Michael Dolny.

Edward was born in Bridgeport in 1927 to Michael and Mary Dolny. He attended Central High School, where he participated in the rifle club and played on the softball team. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army, serving in post-war Germany in 1945. Following his military service, Edward attended Fairfield University, where he earned a master's degree in education.

He began his teaching career shortly thereafter at Milford Public Schools, where he taught woodworking to seventh and eighth graders. Additionally, he taught part-time at Milford Academy, specializing in drafting. During the summers, Edward worked at Excello Tool in Milford.

A devout member of Trinity Lutheran Church for many years, alongside his wife, Virginia, Edward enjoyed playing bridge with friends and family in his free time. He was also part of a gourmet group that cooked and sampled foods from various countries with friends. After retiring from teaching, he pursued a hobby of refurbishing hardwood antiques.

Funeral services for Edward will take place on Wednesday, July 2nd, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 21 Robert Treat Parkway, Milford, CT.
