Al was born on June 18, 1950, in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada, to Albert Otto Neudeck and Margaret Neudeck while they were on holiday visiting family. Following his graduation from Harding High School in 1968, he immediately joined the United States Navy. He was the third generation to serve in the Navy. He served during the Vietnam War. Upon honorable discharge from the Navy, he attended and received an Associate's degree in Social Work from Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, Connecticut. During his youth, he was very active in the community as a Boy Scout and Eagle Scout. He loved visiting his family in Cape Breton during the summers. In later years, he always made it a point to visit aunts, uncles, and cousins on Canada Day. His love for America and Canada had always shown throughout his lifetime. He loved his family and was always engaged in spending time with them. Whether far or near, throughout the year, he would spend time with them on holidays and summer vacations. He was very active in the role of Commander at Lt. RJ Bower Post 1466 on 40 Alfred Street, Bridgeport, Connecticut. He facilitated the remembrance of fallen soldiers, placing wreaths on deceased veterans' graves each Memorial Day. He was a member of Port 5, NANV Bridgeport, VFW, and CWV Derby post. He was the PTA president and helped build the playground at St Ann's Bridgeport. He was the President of Group 2 Slovak Catholic Sokol and Senior Director of the male drillers. His hobbies included dabbling in antiques, loving his Volvos, nature and camping, and being a history buff. When Al hugged, you felt loved, and it will be missed. Al was a shining light in the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family and friends. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended but for the way it was lived.
