Vernon Y Kwok, MD, age 83, of Simsbury/Fairfield, entered into eternal rest on May 18, 2025, in St Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, CT.
Born in Hong Kong on July 31, 1941, he was the son of the late Yue Bik and Man Keung. He was a loving husband to Sandra and beloved father to Patrick Kwok. He leaves behind to mourn his passing his wife, Sandra, son Patrick, daughter-in-law Katie, and three grandchildren Ava, Aiden, and Olivia of Fairfield; Brothers Y.Y, Y.Y of Hong Kong, and sister Naomi Of Sydney, Australia, as well as nephews Andy, Ronald, and Wayne; and Niece Denise.
Vernon moved to the United States to pursue his education. He obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine with a specialty in Prosthodontics from the University of Pennsylvania. He met Sandra in NYC, where they married and had Patrick. After a short stay in Charleston, South Carolina, they moved to Simsbury, CT, in 1977, where Vernon and Sandra have resided since.
Vernon dedicated his life to his work as Director of the Department of Dentistry and the Dental Clinic at Hartford Hospital for over 40 years. He was happiest when he was busy with work. He taught many generations of future dentists and his skill, work ethic, and dedication to his patients continue with many of the providers he mentored over the years.
Being a Grandfather, “Gpa” as he was known, was Vernon’s pride and joy. Spending holidays together, days on the beach in LAVA, on the sidelines, or in the stands of a sporting event filled him with pure happiness. Vernon was a kind and gentle man whose presence will be missed by many.
