Obituary of Elizabeth Repasi

Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Elizabeth Pleszko Repasi, the beloved wife of Andras Repasi for 69 years (who passed two days later), passed away on April 27, 2025, with her family by her side. Elizabeth was born in Arka, Hungary on September 22, 1933, to Laszlo and Anna Pleszko. Elizabeth and Andras emigrated to the United States in1957, having fled their country during the Hungarian Revolution. Upon arrival in the United States, they settled in Fairfield, where they raised their daughters, Liz and Violet.

Elizabeth was a hardworking, devoted wife and mother. Her life centered around her family and their many friends in the local Hungarian community. Elizabeth loved to entertain and serve guests her delicious Hungarian dishes and pastries. The years were filled with family celebrations, picnics and card parties with friends, and dances and fairs at the local Hungarian churches. Elizabeth was very proud of her home, which was always spotless. As avid gardeners, Elizabeth and Andy also spent much time tending their flower-filled yard and large vegetable garden.

In later years, she and Andras were active with the church Senior Citizen Group, enjoying many activities and trips with friends and the late Father Robert Nemeth. Elizabeth especially loved the weekly bingo games and spent many fun-filled Thursday nights with friends in the church hall.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughters: Elizabeth Matis (Richard) and Violet Nastri (Mark); grandchildren: Daniel Matis (Melissa), Jackie Nastri Bardenwerper (Tad), Corinna Matis Linski (Bill) and Mark Nastri (Caitie); great grandchildren: Dylan, Chase, Peyton, Ceci, Bo, Willa, Owen, Blake, Tommy and Dominic. Elizabeth is also survived by her brother, Imre Pleszko, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister-in -law Matilda Repasi Pleszko and four sisters and two brothers, all in Hungary.

By far, Elizabeth's greatest joy was being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They will always remember their loving, generous Mama.

The family extends their gratitude to the staff of the Bride Brook Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their excellent and compassionate care during Mom's illness.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 6th, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd, Fairfield Center. Services will continue at St. Emery's Roman Catholic Church in Fairfield at 10:30am. Burial will take place at Lawncroft Cemetery in Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
