Obituary of Kathleen Patricia Sheehy

Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With profound sadness and immense gratitude for the time shared, we celebrate the life of Kathleen Sheehy. Kathy passed away on February 27, 2025, at the age of 57.

Kathy attended Jane Ryan Grammar School in Trumbull until her family moved to Fairfield in 1980. She graduated from The Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Laurelton Hall, where she developed many lifelong friendships. It was at Laurelton Hall that Kathy discovered her deep compassion and willingness to help those in need. After graduating with the Class of 1985, Kathy continued her education at the University of Bridgeport where she earned her degree in Fashion Merchandising. She spent her post-graduate years working as a personal shopper at Saks Fifth Avenue in Manhattan where she assisted many high-profile clients and celebrities, including the Sultan of Brunei and his entourage. After many years of working in Fashion Merchandising, she felt the true reason she was placed on earth was not being fulfilled and decided to pursue her career in nursing.

Kathy continued her education to become a Registered Nurse at St. Vincent's School of Nursing at the University of Bridgeport. After fulfilling her requirements and passing her state boards, Kathy received her license as a Registered Nurse (RN) . Kathy began her long career as a Registered Nurse working in the Intensive Care Unit at St. Vincent's Hospital. She poured her heart into every patient she cared for, supporting patients and their families in their most critical times of need. Kathy believed there was nothing more important than encouraging smiles and laughter, even at the worst of times, and highlighting the beauty in everyday moments that are so often overlooked.

From a very young age, Kathy and her family spent their summers at Fairfield Beach, eventually moving there permanently. She developed a deep connection and love of the water, enjoying water skiing with her brother and sister, fishing, and taking long walks on the beach. She especially cherished the sunrise and sunset, and she was particularly fond of the nights when the lighthouse at Penfield Reef aligned perfectly with the moon. Whether it was a long walk talking to friends at the beach for a cup of coffee and a chat with her mom Pat at St. Mary's, or to walk her dog Misty with her partner Lee, Kathy's daily visits to the water's edge was an integral part of her daily life that she always looked forward to.

Kathy found great joy in walking Misty Lu at St. Mary's by the Sea and the South Benson Marina, always accompanied by her life partner and treasured love, Lee Korchman, whom she happily loved for over 28 years.

Although she did not have children of her own, Kathy had a deep connection with her niece Tatum, her nephew Hunter, and her beloved dog, Misty Lu. She showered them with love, giggles, and laughter and instilled in them her deep care and compassion for others. Kathy loved spending 'girl time' with her niece Tatum, appreciated and loved her nephew Hunter with his silliness and inquisitive mind, and always enjoyed a good laugh with her sister Colleen.

Kathy's family will forever love her and be extraordinarily proud of the remarkable woman she was to the countless people whose life Kathy touched. Kathy's mom Pat always said, "The gift of a daughter is also the gift as a lifelong friend." Kathy will be deeply missed by all that knew her and loved her.

Kathy is predeceased by her father, Dr. James Sheehy, whom she admired dearly. She is survived by her mother and best friend, Patricia Sheehy; her brother, Jim Sheehy and his son, James Sheehy; her sister, Colleen Sheehy; Colleen's children, Tatum and Hunter Sheehy; and her cherished life partner, Lee Korchman.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 12th, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lesko Funeral Home, located at 1209 Post Road, Fairfield Center. A prayer service will take place at 6:00 PM in memory of Kathy. All other services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, we asked that donations be made to the Fairfield animal shelter in her name.
