Barbara Jane Swarney Chuga, age 88, of Trumbull, beloved wife of Gregory M. Chuga, entered into eternal life on Friday, June 28, 2024.

Barbara was born in Bridgeport to the late John and Elizabeth Gorjon Swarney and had worked for many years as a reading consultant for the City of Bridgeport and was a member of the Greater Bridgeport Retired Teachers Association (GBRTA). A devout Catholic, Barbara was a dedicated parishioner at St. Emery Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister and spent many years volunteering for their events. She was also an avid supporter of various diversified charities.

In addition to her loving husband, Gregory, Barbara's memory will be lovingly remembered by her son, Gregory Chuga, of Virginia; her daughter, Deborah Hamilla, of Fairfield; her son-in-law, John Hamilla, Jr.; her cherished grandchildren, John Hamilla, III, Matthew Hamilla, and Stephen Hamilla. She was predeceased by her brother, John Swarney, and his wife, Suzanne.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at the Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Emery Church, 838 Kings Highway E., in Fairfield. Burial will follow at Lawncroft Cemetery.
